People always want to do something for society but when a platform is presented to them, it happens quite often that they back out. I am proud to say, I didn’t! I was presented with an opportunity and I grabbed it. This was officially my first step in order to bring a change in this society and I am glad it was with Juvenile Care,VIT.

When I joined VIT, joining an NGO was one of my top priorities. Juvenile Care came as a blessing and I can say this without a second of doubt that it was one of the most important and most beautiful parts of my college life. Juvenile Care is my family and that’s what it will always be.

The people I worked with had an aura of positivity. Juvenile Care taught me quite a lot and helped me imbibe qualities which I still carry with my head held high. Every week, going to Wheels orphanage and bringing smiles on the faces of the kids gave me unimaginable happiness! It made me realize that it doesn’t really take a lot to be happy in life and that we should count our blessings and be grateful for all that we’re blessed with. Another lesson I learnt was that the tiniest of steps that we take can make a huge difference in someone’s life.

I just want to highlight one of the many heavenly moments I experienced while I was a part of Juvenile Care, VIT. SPARSH is a medical camp that is organized every year in a village by Juvenile care VIT. In 2016, when I was still a happy college going kid away from this real professional world, it was organized in Melmanavur, a village right opposite Abdullapuram where Sparsh ’15 took place. While I was busy at the event, a girl came running towards me, tugged at my hand and said “Priyanshi akka, do you remember me? You came to Abdullapuram last year for the medical camp”. I was stunned. I had hardly met her for a few hours and that too an year back and it shocked me how well she remembered everything we did. I was meeting her after a whole year but she made me feel like it was just yesterday. It was overwhelming to say the least and it gave me immense satisfaction to know that all the efforts we put in to make a difference does not go in vain! If not anything else it is guaranteed to bring a smile to their faces.

Every event, every project undertaken by Juvenile Care,VIT is so thoughtful, well intended and eventually always fulfills the agenda of “Spreading smiles”. Everyone whines about how tough things can be for the underprivileged but very few actually care to take a step forward. I’m proud to say that Juvenile Care helped me take that step. I will always be proud to be a part of such an amazing and caring family. Wherever I go, whatever I achieve, this experience with JC will be a huge part of who I am and who I grow to be. Juvenile Care is forever.
